The event will feature a briefing by Olimpia Kot, EVC Taiwan Office Senior Projects Coordinator, and Marcin Jerzewski, EVC Taiwan Office Head, on the preliminary results of the two research projects currently implemented by EVC Taiwan Office: Kot’s work on identity-based disinformation and FIMI targeting Taiwan’s Indigenous peoples, and Jerzewski’s work on opportunities and challenges for Taiwan-EU cooperation on energy transition. Based on original interviews with key stakeholders and FIMI experts, Kot’s work explores ethnic relations in Taiwan as a potential source of cleavages which could be instrumentalized in anti-democratic information operations of malign foreign actors. Coinciding with controversial decision to phase out nuclear power, Jerzewski’s research considers Taiwan’s progress to achieve a just and green transition and presents actionable policy ideas for enhancing cooperation between the EU and Taiwan in the field of renewable energy.
