The Sinology Scholarship established by the International Chinese Language Program (ICLP) at National Taiwan University
The scholarship is designed specifically for European graduate students in the field of sinology who may be interested in taking their language skills to the next level through intensive training. We are hopeful that this scholarship will benefit students of your esteemed institute, with your long-standing prominence in the fields related to Asian studies.
Founded in 1962, ICLP has 60 years of experience teaching Chinese to foreign learners. Focusing on short-term, highly efficient Chinese instruction in small group and 1-1 classes, we help beginner students develop listening and speaking abilities, and provide advanced learners with training in academic language and Classical Chinese. Over these years, our outstanding alumni include government officials, diplomats, academics, business leaders, etc. I believe our flexible and diverse curriculum and pedagogy will suit each learner’s need, including that of your students in the field of sinology.
To encourage and support aspiring sinology students on their path to a successful career, the Sinology Scholarship will select one graduate student from institutes in Europe every year and waive their tuition fee for one quarter of studying at ICLP. Emerging from the competitive selection process in previous years, a promising PhD candidate from the Autonomous University of Madrid in 2024 and a highly qualified MA student from the Palacky University in 2025 have chosen to accept the award and join us in Taipei. The application is now open for the 2026-2027 cycle; more information can be found on our website.
